Marion Valk – Office Administrator

I’ve been working with Lance and the team since 2007, answering patient enquires, dealing with ACC matters, liaising with orthodontists and health professionals and handling the general administration duties for the office.

What I most enjoy about my role is dealing with the patients.   I always try to alleviate any anxiety patients may have and reassure them that they will get fantastic care with our expert team. Working with such a renowned surgeon and dedicated colleagues makes my job a pleasure and thoroughly enjoyable.

Angela Maude – Office Administrator

I have worked for Lance for three and a half years.  I share the administration/reception role with Marion.  Prior to my appointment with Lance, I worked in Family Law as a legal secretary/receptionist for ten years.

What I love about my job, aside from the administration/reception duties, is that we all work well as a close-knit team.  I thoroughly enjoy working in this role as I am a “people person” and enjoy the patient contact each day.  I have the utmost respect for Lance’s expertise and commitment he gives to all his patients.  He is 100% committed to every patient and gives each individual as much time and reassurance as they may need and patients come back full of praise for his work.

Caroline Milton – Nurse

I have worked as a nurse for Lance for six years, assisting him in theatre, and making sure everything is prepared for surgery. I trained at Christchurch Hospital and was a school nurse at Senior College in Auckland and a practice nurse at Epsom Medical Centre.

What I most enjoy about my work is working with such a talented surgeon like Lance. I’ve seen how his operations have changed lives and I feel privileged to be part of the team to make that happen.

Fern Hynson – Lab Technician

For eight years I’ve worked with Lance West and have worked in the dental industry for over ten years. The lab work I do is not your typical work, it is quite varied and I focus mainly on the jaw surgery patients.  I see them before their surgery and take impressions (moulds of their mouth).  After that I help Lance with the treatment planning.   The lab work required for these procedures has to be very precise and of a high quality.

I love every aspect of my work, especially the team dynamics, patient interaction and lab work. I always get a buzz when discussing a current patient’s treatment plan with Lance and seeing the difference it is going to make to them post treatment.

Outside of work I love making jewellery and doing all things crafty.  I have also discovered photography recently and this ties in well with my love of hiking in New Zealand and my passion for overseas travelling.

Anastasia Soropa – Nurse

I’ve worked at Lance West for six years and been a nurse for over twenty years. My role involves assisting Lance with surgery as well as looking after our patients’ pre and post-surgery. Sometimes I accompany them to hospital if they need to go outside the clinic.

I love the variety of my day to day work and the fact that I get to see the first-hand the transformation that patients experience through surgery – it’s always extraordinary.

What people first ask me when they meet me is where I’m originally from. It’s Zimbabwe.  I am always trying to improve my medical knowledge and luckily have a passion for reading academic journals.  Other than that, I’m a mother to three children and I love to watch sport – especially soccer.
